1687, 1 Apr: John Pratt Sen. of Hartford, CT wrote his will. Leaves his whole estate with my wife to enable her to bring up my children in the fear of the Lord, so long as she bears my name; if she changes her name, she shall enjoy the thirds of my lands above mentioned & 20 pounds out of my estate, she leaving the remainder of my estate to be disposed to my children: to sons Joseph & Jonathan, my now dwelling house & barn, with 9 acres of land upon which it stand between them. (5a) 1692/3, 15 Feb: Upon the motion of John Pratt, he being of age to receive his portion given him by his father John Pratt, & desire of his mother Hepsibah Sad, executrix to the estate of said John Pratt, that the said Joseph Prat might have his proportions of the housing & land set out to him that was given him by his father, the Hartford court appoints Sgt. John Marsh & Robert Sandford to make equal division of the housing & lands given, between the said Joseph Pratt & his brother Jonathan Pratt, according to the tenure of their father's last will & testament, that so the said Joseph Pratt may have the possession of his part given to him.
