REFERENCE: 424 Alternative birthdate is abt 1664 PER BUSHNELL GENEALOGY: b. Boston, Mass. abt 1664, d. there abt 1699, m. abt 1686, wid. Sarah (Lovering) Place, b. abt 1685/6, d. perhaps after 1703, sister of William Lovering of Boston, and wid. of John Place, mariner. John Bushnell, b. in Boston, Mass. probably on the site of the present No. 6, Dock Square, was made adm. of his father's est., and on 6 Mar. 1685/6, sold the property to Sampson Stoddard. At abt this time he m. Mrs. Sarah (Lovering) Place, who had a life interest in a house, and lot 461 ft. wide and 140 ft. deep on the site of the present 214?218 Hanover St. (anciently called Middle St.). Here they res. and a tax list dated 6 Jun 1687 shows that there were two in his family at that time. In a tax list dated 1688, endorsed #2 rate, he is listed as Constable. In 1696 he was among the soldiers in a stone fort at Pemaquid, Me. which was surrendered to a French force from Canada, and by the terms of the capitulation the prisoners were to sent by ship to Boston;'' he survived the hardships of this campaign about two years and d. in Boston abt 1699, she d. abt 1703. Their children were bap. On Sunday, 4 Jun 1699, in Boston.
