WADSWORTH DIED WEDNESDAY Spanish-American Vet Will Be Buried Friday Andrew Silas Wadsworth, 76, Spanish-American War veteran, died Wednesday at the Samaritan Hospital, Troy. Mr. Wadsworth, who was very well known throughout this section was a resident of New Britain, Town of Lebanon. Born in New Britain, the son of the late John G. Wadsworth and Sarah Ashby, he was a descedent of one of the earliest families in New Lebanon. Mr. Wadsworth served as a First Sergeant in the Spanish-American War. On April 23, 1899 he was wounded for which he later received the Purple Heart. He was promoted to Regular Quarter Master Sergeant, then to Regimental Sergeant Major. His last promotion was to Lieutenant. Mr. Wadsworth is survived by a sister, Mrs. Hattie W. Hasbrouck, and a niece, Mrs. George DeBell of Stanford, Conn.; two grand nieces and two grand nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from his late residence in New Britain, with Rev. Homer B. Silverhall officiating. Burial will follow in the Wadsworth Cemetery, New Britain. E. B. Gifford and Son, of Chatham have charge of the funeral arrangements.
