E-Mail from Janie Wagnon on 2/25/02 Don, saw your Aslinger surname file. I will give you my info and hope that if you come across anything that would fit for me, that you let me know. I have great great grandparents John and Margret Shipman. Info I have on Margret is birth date is Dec 25, 1842, Tn. John and Margret Shipman first show up in the 1860 Hamilton County Tn census. It was reported to me by relatives that in the John Shipman family bible that Margret's maiden name is (Ayslinger) Aslinger. No other info on her. However in the 1850 and 1860 TN census, the Shipman families and Aslinger families seem to be in the same vicinity. It may be that the Margaret listed as age 9 with Vina Aslinger family is the same Margaret listed as the wife of John Shipman in the 1860 TN census. Also Margret and John Shipman named my great grandfather David Joshua Shipman and they had another son named Cleaver. Listed as children of Vina Aslinger in the 1850 TN census along with Margaret age 9 are William 21, Sarah 17, Mary 12, Calvin or Cleavor 6, and Joshua 3. In the 1860 Hamilton Co. TN census living near the Shipman household is a William Shelton and Mary age 22 with a daughter Margaret and living with them are Cleavor and Joshua Aslinger. Anyway only speculation, but seems likely these two Margrets may be the same and wondered if you had the Shipman surname in any of your files. thanks Janie
