<p>Places of residence: Lincoln shire England; Clayton,Washington & Greene Counties in Iowa</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>All of the married children of George and Caroline Andrew and spouses are buried in the Highland Cemetery, Churdan, Iowa</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Parents of both George & Ann Elizabeth were engaged in Farming. George Jr. became a "practical engineer" and was employed for eight yearsas a stationary and locomotive engineer before leaving England. A month after their marriage they left their homeland and sailed from Liverpool to New York City.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>George and Caroline went to Clayton County, Iowa, where they bought land near Strawberry Point. Here they met James and Catherine Hatter Hill who had come to the United states ten years earlier. Catherine and Caroline were sisters as proven by baptismal records at the Bishop's Palace at Lincoln, England. In 1860 their brother, Thomas Hatter, and family were living near them in Clayton County.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>The family remained in Clayton County until 1867 when they moved to Washington County, Iowa and bought land there. George sold the Washington County farm in 1869 after his wife Caroline died,and the family returned to Clayton County.</p><p><p></p></p><p>On May 19,1871 Geroge Andrew bought 149+ acres in Bristol Township, Greene County, from Artemis Blake of Chicago.</p>
