Ruth A. DeVore, 69, of Crestline, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital, Galion after a nearly 10 year courageous battle with cancer. Ruth was born in Crestline, on April 27, 1944 to the late Paul and Doris (Minich) Bauer.She married Russell H. DeVore on September 5, 1965 and he survives her. She was an active member of Calvary United Church of Christ. In her life she had worked at ITT North, Galion, Pioneer Balloon Factory, Willard and MTD, Willard and was a licensed hair dresser. Ruth enjoyed cross stitching, quilting, crafts, and was a 4H Advisor. She was a loving and patient wife and mother. She made a friend everywhere she went and never complained about her illness, but using it as an opportunityto meet wonderful and caring people. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Julie and Tony Sloan of Crestline, and Arlene and Todd Whitmer of Ashland; her two granddaughters; Olivia Sloan and Emily Sloan; her two grandsons; Levi Sloan and Nate Whitmer, her two brothers, P. Eldon and Barbara Bauer of Crestline and Richard F. Bauer of Columbus; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her best friend Cathy Daily. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Calvary United Church of Christ with Rev. Kim Bayless officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
