TIBOR TIMOTHY "TY" VAS
Age 78, peacefully passed away on November 26, 2017, at Baptist Homes in Castle Shannon after a long illness. Born in Hungary on April 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Bela "Albert" and Charlotte Pusztai Vas and was the eldest brother to Zoltan and Elvira. Tibor was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna C. (Brackney) and was a loving father to Tim (Mary), Bob (Erin), Ken (Joanne), and Patti (Vas) Opferman (Scott). He was also a grandfather to 14 adoring grandchildren, Michael, Stephen, Christopher, Erick, Sarah, Jacqueline, Ryan, Kylene, Adam, Jimmy, Jason, Kaci, Carol and David; 14 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife, Linda Brackney-Vas of 11 years.
"Ty" was a dedicated Teamsters Union Member and truck driver for the Pittsburgh Press for over 30 years. He also worked for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and PITT OHIO in Pittsburgh before his official and final retirement. Besides spending time with his family, Ty loved camping, fishing and watching the original version of M-TV. He was also a Boy Scout Leader and mentor to many. He will be sorely missed by those who loved him.
