Joseph R MCNEIL

Joseph R. McNeil, 91, born August 7, 1917 in Herrin, IL., passed away on August 11, 2008 in Phoenix, AZ. He attended Washington High School in Ind. Harbor, IN. then joined the Army in September 1941 where he was a radio instructor at Ft. Benning, GA then served in World War II in Argennes, Rhineland in Central Europe. Joe married Dorothy Evans in July 1942. After the war ended, the family moved to Hammond, IN. He worked as an electrician at Inland Steel Company then moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1963. He is survived by his wife Dorothy and four children, mark of Ahwatukee, Faye Kimbrough of Flagstaff, Malcolm of Goodyear and Ken of Ahwatukee; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way; a sister Elaine Larson in Gainesville, FL and a brother Jim in Hartsville, IN along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, 9:00am, August 15, 2008 at Resthaven Park Mortuary Chapel, 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042 with Funeral Service following at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
