Gail Patricia McCaslin, age 68, entered the gates of Heaven on September 30th, 2016 after a long illness. There she rejoined her father, Patrick Roger Durner, her mother, Nellie Mae Durner, as well as her brother, Roger Durner.
Gail’s education included Athens State College in Athens, Alabama, and the University of North Carolina Asheville. She obtained her Master’s in Education from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Gail’s career in education included over 30 years of dedicated service at Immaculata Catholic School where she was a positive role model not only to her students and their families, but also to the entire staff. Among her many passions was athletics. She ran over 60 marathons in more than 30 states and qualified for the Boston Marathon in her first marathon. Gail has been a wonderful and respected person and now resides at rest in Heaven with the Lord.
She is survived by her husband, with whom she celebrated her 47th wedding anniversary on September 13th, 2016, Raymond Cordell McCaslin; two sons: Gail’s oldest, Patrick George McCaslin and his wife, Melissa and their two daughters, Claire Alene McCaslin and Mary Patricia McCaslin and Gail’s youngest, Raymond Shawn McCaslin and his wife, Kathleen and their daughter, Abigail Cielo McCaslin; and by one brother, Ronnie Durner, currently residing in Asheville. She loved all her pets and was greeted by them at the rainbow bridge.
A Mass celebrating Gail’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016 in the Sanctuary of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hendersonville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Rd, Flat Rock, NC 28731 (www.FourSeasonsCFL.org).
Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors and Cremation Memorial Center is in charge of the arrangements.
