Clarence H. Riley, 81, St. Helen, died at his home April 12, 2011, with his family by his side.
A celebration of his life was held at the VFW Post in St. Helen. Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel, is handling arrangements.
Mr. Riley was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Detroit to Clarence and Minerva (Piere) Riley. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to St. Helen in 1976 from Romulus. He loved woodworking, making clocks, camping and fishing. He was a life time member of the Houghton Lake Heights VFW Post 5853.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, in 1981; companion, Pat Stetler; son, Danny; and daughter, Kelley.
Surviving Mr. Riley are his son, Mike Reiland of St. Helen; seven daughters, Carrie Hildebrandt of Colorado, Kim (Al) Hill of Sterling Heights, Robin Reiland of Taylor, Kelly Reiland of St. Helen, Krystal Reiland of St. Helen, Tracy Riley of Lincoln Park and Erin (Jeff) Burns of Pinckney; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and two sisters Edith (Joe) Butchkowski of Las Vegas and Pat Riley of Lewiston.
