Rochester: Albert Walter Frede was born in Danbury, CT on August 21, 1929, the son of the late Walter and Emilie (Stieber) Frede, and died on September 1, 2013 in Rochester, NY. Al was a graduate of Immanuel Lutheran School and Danbury High School. After a year of art school, he worked as a teller at Danbury National Bank and then was drafted into the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA and served the rest of his Army tour as an instructor at Ft. Dix, NJ. Following his Army career, he went to the University of Connecticut on the GI Bill, graduating with a degree in business.
Al began a career with the Eastman Kodak Company as a salesman in New York City. Subsequently, he worked for Kodak in various capacities in Buffalo and Boston before moving to Rochester, where he was a sales and marketing executive. He retired from Kodak in 1984 and continued to live in Rochester as he pursued his love of art, producing many watercolors and drawings.
Al is predeceased by a brother, Edward Frede, and two sisters, Norma Jean Frede and Christine Pearce. He is survived by his spouse, Boyd Elliott, his partner of 36 years. He is also survived by a sister, Carolyn Carlson, of Gaithersburg, MD, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and a cadre of friends.
Albert's Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 21st, 11AM at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, 597 East Avenue, Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to a charity of their choice.
