Raymond Joseph "Dutch" Patten, 68, of Thorn Run Road died Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
Born March 20, 1940, in Butler, he was a son of the late Viola M. Geibel Patten and the late Clifford A. Patten and the stepson of Doris Holmes Patten.
He worked at John R. Ellison's for 13 years and owned and operated Patten Refuse Collection for 27 years. He retired in 1999. He also was the township supervisor of Oakland Township for 12 years.
He was a member of the Springdale Lutheran Church in West Sunbury, the Chicora Moose Lodge, the PIPP Oil Association and a lifetime member of the Oneida Valley Fire Department.
Mr. Patten enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and working on his oil wells. He also enjoyed spending time at his camps in Foxburg and Brookston.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte G. Anchors Patten, whom he married April 1, 1961; a son, Brent Alan Patten and his wife, Lisa, of Butler; two daughters, Pamela Sue Krauchak and her husband, Wayne, and Brenda Lynn Moran and her husband, Matthew, all of Butler; one sister, Alberta Stockard and her husband, Richard, of Butler; one brother, Clifford A. Patten and his wife, Dorothy, of Florida.
Also surviving are his stepmother, Mrs. Doris Patten; three half-brothers, Carl Patten and his wife, Peggy, Glenn Patten and his wife, Gina, and Harry Patten and his companion, Kathy; stepbrother George Campbell and his wife, Denise; and stepsister, Bernice Vanderpoll, all of Michigan.
Special family members include two uncles, Laverne and Paul Patten; and sister-in-law, Effie Anchors Patten and her husband, Richard.
He was very proud of his seven grandchildren, Krystal and Trevor Krauchak, Doughlas and Jennifer Moran, and Heidi, Kelsie and Carley Patten, all of Butler. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.
A sister, Mary Ann Smith, preceded him in death.
PATTEN - Friends of Raymond Joseph "Dutch"Patten, who died Monday, May 12, 2008, will be received at the GEIBELFUNERALHOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Ginger DiTullio, lay minister from Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Burial Estates.
