Donald James Parizek , 83, of 1517 Linn-Johnson Rd., died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Robert Ruppert. Burial: National Cemetery, Vining. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a son, Tom (Becky) of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mary (Dennis) Cech of Fairfax and Linda (Don) Kulish of Swisher; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma; a son, Richard; a daughter, Betty Staker; a grandson, Matt Kulish; and a brother, Earl .
Donald was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Tama County, to James Charles and Wilma Caloud Parizek . Don married Alma Snider in Toledo on June 24, 1941. She died in 1980. They made their home in Tama County and later moved to Cedar Rapids to raise their family. Donald worked in plumbing, heating and electrical all of his life.
