März 1807 in Chester County, South Carolina (Sohn von Capt Samuel James Gill und Mary Ann Fox-Gill, die auf dem Clinton Cemetery in der Ebenezeer Presbyterian Church in Greene County, Alabama, beigesetzt sind) geboren. Sein Vater, Kapitän Samuel James Gill, diente im Unabhängigkeitskrieg. Robert James Gill heiratete zuerst Elizabeth Ann Cherry am 15. November1830 in Greene County, Alabama. Sie hatten 12 Kinder. Seine Frau Elizabeth starb am 16. August 1867 und wurde auf dem Snake Creek Cemetery in Needville (Region Richmond), Ft. Dezember 1872 in Johnson City, Blanco Co., Texas, kennenlernte und heiratete (Robert J. Gill war Marthas 2.) Ehe, ihr erster Ehemann William Dolphin Bass wurde Berichten zufolge 1869 getötet). Robert und Martha hatten mindestens einen Sohn: Robert A. Gill (1876-1879), der vor seinem vierten Lebensjahr verstarb und in der Nähe seiner Eltern in Section 6D-11 beigesetzt wurde. His wife, Elizabeth, died on Aug 16, 1867 and was buried in the Snake Creek Cemetery in Needville (Richmond area), Ft. Bend County, Texas where they were living on the Peter Lawley West and wife Virena Clementine Gill-West (my 2nd great grandparents) property at the time. Note: Robert James Gill & Elizabeth Ann Cherry-Gill were my 3rd greatgrandparents on my maternal side. His parents, Capt Samuel James Gill & Mary Ann Fox-Gill were my 4th great grandparents). After Elizabeth died, Robert moved to Blanco/Johnson City (Blanco County), Texas where he met and married Martha Ann Avant-Bass on Dec. 2, 1872 in Johnson City, Blanco Co., Texas (Robert J. Gill was Martha's 2nd marriage; her 1st husband William Dolphin Bass was reportedly killed in 1869). Robert and Martha had at least one son: Robert A. Gill (1876-1879) who died before he was4 years old and is buried near his parents in Section 6D-11. Robert James Gill died on Jan 28, 1897 and his 2nd wife: Martha Ann Avant-Bass-Gill, married Captain Joseph Lewis Bird on January 3, 1900 (no known children of that marriage) who died on Aug 15, 1909 and is buried in Round Mountain Cemetery (Blanco Co), Texas.
