On 9 Sep 1749, Henry arrived in Philadelphia on the ship “St. Andrew” with his father Adam. The ship contained 400 immigrants from Rhineland, but only the 111 adult men were named on the ship’s manifest. His father Adam was not found on any other documents after that, and it was assumed that he died between 1750 and 1760.</p><p>About that time, Henry, his mother and other siblings traveled to Chambersburg, Cumberland County, PA. It is not known what became of the other family members, but Henry was next found in 1766 in Heidelberg Township, Berks County, PA with his wife Katharina. Their first three children are in the 1766-1772 records of Heidelberg Lutheran Church.</p><p>Henry registered 12 acres in Heidelberg Township on 7 Oct 1772. He was next found in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County with 152.22 acres, received 9 Feb 1775. In 1780 Henry was “summoned by Capt. James Bell according to orders Red, that is to say the 5th, 6th and 7th, Classes of the 3rd Battalion Cumberland Co, Militia". He was called upon to perform a tour of duty by an order of council bearing date YE 1st of August 1780.</p><p>Between 1778 and 1789, Henry was found on tax lists for East Pennsboro Township and also Lurgan Township, Franklin County. He was successful and his wealth seemed to grow each year. Henry stayed in this area, acquiring more farm land as well as plots in the town of Strasburg, Letterkenny Township, Franklin County. Records show he bought 172 ¼ acres in Lurgan Township called Widows Farm in 1786. It was mentioned in his will when he died. Sons Peter and Benjamin sold it in 1803.</p><p>Henry was one of the builders of the Pleasant Hill Salem Lutheran Church in Franklin County. He and Casper Reith paid 54 pounds in pure gold to Mathias Boger for his work on the church. At some point Henry acquired a tannery and leatherworks where cattle and horse hides were oak tanned and turned into leather goods (referred to in his will).</p><p>This will of Henry Humberger was written on 22 Jul 1802 in Strasburg, Franklin Co, PA. It was probated on 31 Aug 1802. According to his will, when he died the following properties went to his heirs:</p><p>Wife Katherina- $60 a year plus $40 annually from land proceeds in Lurgan Twp., plus $20 yearly from ground rents of the town of Strasburg. Also ½ part of his lot #19 in the town of </p><p> Strasburg. Also named were household items and lot #11-2 lower rooms in the house where </p><p> he lived in Strasburg and 1/3 of lot #11 containing the garden.</p><p>Sons Peter, Henry, Benjamin- 2 tracts in Lurgan of 172 ¼ acres. Also 70 acres called </p><p> Duncansburg, reserving 10 acres sold to Dewald Keefer Esq. and 14 acres sold to son Henry.</p><p>Son John and daughter Christina (Wright) - ground rents from the lots owned in Strasburg.</p><p>Son Adam- Lots 11, 12, 19, 20 in Strasburg and a small piece of land adjoining lot 12 and an </p><p> alley.
