Die Ortschronik Derdingen berichtet, Pfarrer Lang habe Oberderdingen während des Dreißigjährigen Krieges vor der Brandschatzung bewahrt, indem er die katholischen Reichstruppen „mit 150 Litern Wein vom guten Jahrgang 1629 zur Ruhe“ gebracht habe.

laut der Sammlung "Das evangelische Württemberg": "er ist ungünstig prädiziert: seine Frau lebte seit Jahren ganz getrennt von ihm; auf der Kanzel erging er sich in masslosen Schmähungen gegen die Ortsobrigkeit, gegen die kath. Pfaffen etc.
