Copied from newspaper obituary: Willhelm Johann Friedrich Kreklow son of August Kreklow and Henrietta Buttke, was born February 22, 1866, in Horst, Regenwalde, Pomerania, Germany. He was baptized andconfirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a faithful Christian throughout his sojourn on earth. At the age of 16 years he came to America and made his home with his uncle, Friedrich Kreklow, in Hebron Township until his marriage Dec. 12, 1889 with Sarah Bartelt of Cold Spring. Their marriage was solemnized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cold Spring. He was always affiliated with this church and served in several capacities. On March 31, 1895, at the age of 29, he was elected as Elder and Trustee and thus became the secretary, holding this office for almost 39 years. In the early history of thechurch he served as Sunday School Teacher and also served his community as a member of the school board of the local public school. After a short illness he died Friday, December 7, 1934, at the ageof 68 years, 9 months and 15 days, He is survived by a mourning congregation , who will notice his vacant place, he will be missed by his coworkers at St. John's, by the pastor, and above all by his beloved wife, Sarah, with whom he lived for almost 45 years. He is also survived by 12 living children: Herman near Ft. Atkinson; Hulda Blair of Richland Center; Magdalene Bessert, Anna Beck, Martha Vangsness, Minna Schaffer, and Miss Viola Kreklow, all of Milwaukee; Albert of Campbellsport, WI; Verona, Adolph, Rudolph and Martin at home. Two children preceded him in death Arthur in 1933 and Alma in 1898 in infancy. He is also mourned by three daughters-in-law, five sons-in-law and 13 grandchildren. The other survivors include two brothers; August of Rygate, Montana; and Herman of Kankelfitz, Lessenthien, Germany and one sister Mrs. Betha Meyer of Neenah, WI., together with a host of relatives and friends.
