Zitat Hildegard Jenny Wehlitz, Familiengeschichte Dammann von Mary Pat Dammann Morris, 1975:
"Bertha Dammann Jenny was a quiet, pious person who expected respect above everything else. Being a minister's wife and also a minister's daughter she came by it naturally. The parishoners, especially, thought a great deal of her. She was proud of the accomplishments of her children.
As a housekeeper she was better than average and everything had to be in its place. The dining room table had to have a white linen tablecloth for every meal and a small vase of flowers was in the center. In the fall and winter there were straw flowers in the vase.
She was a disciplinarian and the children had to toe the mark. Family loyalty extended to her sisters and brothers who meant a great deal to her. Once a year she would have a large "Kaffeeklatch" to which she invited very dear friends and her sisters. The best dishes were used and everything was served to perfection. On Sundays she would sit in the house until the church bells rang and then would walk proudly down the church aisle. She was a sweet unassuming person."
