She was born in South English, Iowa on July 14, 1926, the daughter of the late David and Bessie Susan (nee: Brubaker) Dobbins. Doris was employed for over 20 years as a secretary for Moody Bible Institute evening school. She was united in marriage to Gil Fechner on June 17, 1995. Doris and Gil were longtime faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord in many capacities. Doris also enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the church choir. Doris is survived by one sister, Neva (Jim) Gilliland of Texas; step-children; Timothy (Diane) Fechner, Randy (Marge) Fechner, Romayne Fechner, Marilyn (Steve) Jeske and Sally (Glen) Hipper. She is also survived by 14 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren in addition to many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Gil on Feb. 28, 2015. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Doris's funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 9122 Durand Ave. Sturtevant on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 11am with Rev. Ken Howe officiating. Visitation will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and at church on Thursday, from 10 am until service time.
