1 Details: RACINE - Carol Helen Becker Olson, 67, passed away March 9, 2013, at her home. Carol was born August 25, 1945 in Jackson, MI, to the late William and Elise Becker. She attended school in Jackson and later Racine, graduating from Park High School and later UW Parkside. On July 3, 1965, she married Ronald Olson, who, though they later divorced, remained her beloved friend until his death in 1991. She served as Communications Director at United Way of Racine County, retiring in 2006. She volunteered for Homeward Bound, Women's Resource Center, The Arc of Racine, Racine Labor Center, Girl Scouts of Racine County and Columbus Park Housing Corp., and was a member and organizer for the Communications Workers of America. In later years, she enjoyed time in nature, all sorts of art, film, reading, swimming and painting, and also caring for her beloved grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Kira Olson (Nasser Hilel) of Racine, Adam Olson of Milwaukee, brothers William Becker (Sharron St. John) of Madison and Randall Becker of Racine, grandchildren Sophia and Elia Olson of Racine, nephews Dylan (Penny) St. Steen of Madison, Gareth Becker of Minneapolis, MN, and niece Hilary St. John (Oliver Messing) of Baltimore, MD, grand-niece Azeeza St. Steen, plus many cousins, uncles and aunts. Also special friend Robert Archacki of Caledonia, and many beloved close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lovice Becker. Carol was a warm and loving person with a delightful, unique sense of humor who will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Special thanks to friends who helped Carol and graciously offered assistance of many kinds. Memorial service to be held at St. Mary’s Chapel, Taylor Hall, DeKoven Center, 600 21st St., Racine, WI 53403, on Saturday, March 30 from 2 – 5 pm, program at 3:30.
