Ralph Garrett
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident, Ralph C. Garrett are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31 at the First Baptist Church of Maud with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Interment will follow at the Cummings Cemetery in Maud, with full Military Honors under the direction of the Knight Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.
Garrett died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at the age of 85 in Kingston.
He was born May 23, 1918, in Enid to Vernon William Garrett and Vena (Postier) Garrett.
He was married to Rowena M. (Richardson) Garrett on Sept. 19, 1939, in Caldwell Kan.
He was a longtime Maud resident and had served in the National Guard.
He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II, during the "Battle of the Buldge’ and assisted during the Airlift in Berlin.
While he was in the military, he was a flight line supervisor and received several commendations for keeping the aircraft in top shape.
Following his time in the Army, he enlisted in the Air Force and served until retirement.
After his retirement, he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in the early 1980’s.
He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Rowena on June 17, 2001; one sister and two brothers.
He is survived by one daughter, Vicki Rae Seeney of Kingston; two sons, Vernon G. Garrett of Boise, Idaho and Jack C. Garrett of Yukon; one sister, Thelma Johnson of Enid; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
