Mark Owen Frey, 58, of Claymont, DE passed away peacefully after a long battle with lung disease on May 5, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 17, 1953, in Wichita, Ks to Virgil and Vernalee Frey, he lived many places as a child before the family anchored in Delaware in 1963.

As a youth he enjoyed being a Boy Scout and would later take much pride and pleasure in passing the tradition on to his son Curtis, actively participating in troop activities. Mark was a Mt Pleasant High

School

graduate

, class of 1970, and attended business

classes

at the

University

of Delaware before moving to Colorado. He returned to Delaware to operate Boxwood Hardware with his family, later purchasing and operating Claymont Hardware for over 24 years.

Always the life of the party, he was known for telling it like it was and sharing his knowledge with anyone willing to listen. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fan of mountain hiking, camping and skiing. Mark was able to fix or improve just about anything, often found working on his favorite Ford vehicle in the driveway or creating woodworking projects for friends and family. He will beremembered for his spunky spirit, no-nonsense personality and most of all for his love of his family and friends and always being the man everyone could count on to come thorough in times of need.

Mark is survived by his mother, Vernalee P Frey; son Curtis Maxwell Frey; his daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Matthew Troutman; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol an Raymond F Quinn, Jr; his nieces, Anastasia and Cassandra Quinn; and three loving grandchildren; Trevor Owen-Elder Frey, Dean Mark, and Macy Lynn Troutman. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil E Frey,

You are invited to attend Mark's service on Monday, May 9, at Gabhart Funeral Home 3401 Philadelphia Pike at 7 pm. Family will begin to receive guests starting at 5 pm.

the family suggests donations in his name to either Delmarva Council for the Boy Scouts of America , delmarvacouncil.org or the Claymont Lions Club Foundation, c/o Richard Gackenback, 3704 PimlicoPl, Boothwyn, Pa, 19060.

further note: Mark was cremated. His family has possession of ashes. Mark requested his ashes be taken to Colorao.
