The coat of arms, is uncertain where though from. It is only sure that Caspar Garschagen, court juror to Elberfeld, was of at 1670 led.

The tribe 'Garschagen' cannot be judged either which weight befits the family tradition that the 'Garschagen' was a originally knight by birth Kinship - and 'Gerds hagen'and Speer des hagen' has to be indicated.

Is the tradition tied to the coat of arms or acknowledge this decisively?

After all, must be recorded here, that to Kärner's “Handbook oftheheraldart " (1920 - 34bandD.ip.98 ) the family 1562 already leads the "tyr rune" for Hagen (though upright), the 'Haulissen hagen' then “Speerspitze” (spearhead) already lead by Kaspar Garschagen.

Of course this connection speaks approximately for the original form "Garshagen". Thesign is indicated in Holtmanns “coat of arms book” where the Garschagen's coat of arms is figured as a “Pflugschar” (ploughshare) what do justice to the tradition of the leads by “Burg Hagen” (Knight House of) (see above) would.

The coat of arms adds a silver sign - be now but to mention ploughshare, 'tyr rune' or “Speer”, in blue field whose helmet ceilings are blue silver and bounce to the pointed three, bounce after "macco" peacocks in her natural green yellow colors with a blue mirror after other interpretation 3 Strauss-spring it, tower.

On everyone fells the coat of arms is old and good. In the chronicler of Rothe from Cretzberg ("Ritter-Spiegel") stands 1400 a.d. in the "knight mirror", about this:

“Silver or gold must reject shields a right in the field or picture; the two lacks one, so it is not a coat of arms. Golden metal counts more than silver”.

Two good colors are part of the field and picture. The more a signpost has colors, the coat of arms is respected the more less the fewer pictures are in it, themore of noble birth it is.

The coat of arms saying is called "Ora et Labora": Pray and work!

We also claim to be faithful for him as genuine Garschagen - descendants - in deep respect and gratitude this one drive up remembering, this in hers live truly made.
