Freier Text: Louise, married Johann Peter Metz, after arriving in Texas in March 1846, having emigrated 8 years before her parents. She and Metz had come to Texas on the same ship. He was born March.03.1816 in Catzenelenbogen, Nassau, Germany, and had started the voyage with a wife and three children, all who died at sea. They arrived at Galveson March 29, 1846, and were married soon after at Indianola where one child was born and died in infancy. Johann Peter and Louise were among the families that established Yorktown DeWitt County, Texas in 1848 where Metz built the first house. They had six other children. Johann Peter Metz died Aug. 20, 1885, Louise Gerhard
(Gerhardt) Metz Jan. 26. 1903, and both are buried in the Lutheran Cemetery at Yorktown, Texas.
