Sara Lynn lived in Randolph, Iowa until age 4, then moved to Ft. Morgan, then Hudson, Colorado. After completing high school in Hudson, she went to the University of Colorado where she got a Nursing BS in 1956. In June, 1956 she began working in the John L. Lewis Memorial Hospital in S. Williamson, Kentucky. There she met and married William Kesler Cather in January, 1957.
During the next 17 years Sara, Bill and their (four) children moved with his Air Force career. Sara continued her nursing work throughout the south and Utah. After A. F. retirement in 1978 the family returned to Tennessee. By 1980 Wendy Lynn, the eldest had joined the Marines, Dee Anne was attending college, and Chip had joined the Navy, and the marriage ended. Sara and Jo Ellen, the youngest, moved to Apache Junction, AZ where she worked in an obstetrical unit locally, then a telemetry unit in the Phoenix VA hospital.
Sara resigned this work in 1987 to care for her mother for three years until her death, and subsequently, her mother's sister, Veryl Miday. She since stayed involved with church activities, computer classes and travels.
