Notizen zu dieser Person

{geni:about_me} Hans Philipps was born in Frankfurt am Main and attended the Samson-Raphael-Hirsch-Schule (Heinrich-von-Gager-Gymnasium) and then completed a business apprenticeship. From 1923-1934 he worked in the „D. Becker & Co. Altgummigroßhandlung“, first in Schwendlerstraße, and later Zufuhrstraße. From 1935 on, he was increasingly dependent upon his mother, Selma Schloss. He was arrested on 10 November 1938 in "Kristallnacht," and was imprisoned in Buchenwald from 11 November until 17 December 1938.
He was able to emigrate from Germany on 30 January 1939 and arrived in the United States from Southampton, England, on 17 Feb 1939. The ship's manifest identified Mrs. Schloss, at Zeil 4 Frankfurt am Main, as his mother. This is the same address as the listing for M. Philipps, his father, in the 1935 Frankfurt Phone Book.
