{geni:about_me} Willi Philippsborn was born in Bentschen, Kreis Meseritz (Zbąszyń, Poland) on 18 Jun, 1910, to Max Philippsborn and Recha Deutschkron Philippsborn. He first-married Gerda (Ella/Berta) Loesche and they lived in Finsterwalde and had two sons. The family property was confiscated by the Nazis and Willi was brought in 1939 to Buchenwald concentration camp and given prisoner number 3447. With the help of Robert Siewart, he worked in a construction unit at the mason school and was able to survive until the camp was liberated. After the war he led groups of visitors through the National Buchenwald Memorial. He married MariaTettenborn and they had one daughter. Willi died on 9 Nov., 1992.
