{geni:about_me} Erna Angress was born on 17 Apr, 1890, in Berlin, daughter of Ferdinand and Frederika Sharlota Angress. She was an accomplished violinist, playing in symphony orchestras. She married Georg Philippsborn and they had one son. She was interned by the Nazis in 1939, along with her son Fritz, but both were released through Georg's connections with the Reich and distinguished World War I history, and boarded the SS Conte Verde for Shanghai. Erna was by then in an advanced stage of cancer and in extreme pain; Fritz had to carry her onto the ship and she died four months after arrival in the Shanghai Ghetto.
