Notes for this person
In 1712, Louis XIV banished Mennonites from France, but some were sheltered in the Deutschhof / Kapleinhof region. They seem to have been a small community, with only about 5 - 7 families. The namesSchowalter, Krehbiel, Lehmann, Muller, and Hirschler appear again and again in discussions of the Mennonites of this place and time. That would explain the intermarriage in our family, which was probably common in that community.
