From Homer Kenneth Cooper's family history written to Kristin Looise Cooper December 9, 1978 JAcob Reed Cooper, as stated previously, was born in Loudoun County Birginia, MArch 3, 1774. It is assumed that he was born there inasmuch as he was living there three years afterward. I have no accounting of his life from that time until 1801, when, on record, he was married to Sarah Hale Kenner. It is her maiden name that was passed along as given neames for the next three generations. The information provided in the 1850 U.S. Census of Putnam County, Indiana shows that both Jacob Reed and his wife Sarah were born in Virginia. This would indicate that they were married in Virginia and had lived their lives ther up to their marriage. Following their marriage they moved to Fleming COunty, Kentuckly, where they lived to, and prbably later, 1830, with the exception of short periods in MAson and Montgomery Counties, also in Kentucky. The 1810, 1820, and 1830 U.S. Census records show the family licing in Fleming County, The 1840 U.S. Census does not list them in any of the previous Kentucky Counties nor in Putnam or Clay Counties in Indiana. The 1850 Census of Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana lists JAcob Cooper, his wife Sarah H. and his daughter, Molly (Mary Reed) He was a carpenter by trade and his politics Shig and Republican. They had eight chidrend, as follows: 1802 - Robert Cooper Aug 15, 1804 - William Kenner Cooper (My great grandfather 1805 - 1808 - Ann Cooper Sept 7, 1809 - Elizabeth Bonum Cooper Oct 7, 1810 - Mary Reed Cooper (Also known as "Molly") )ct 25 1812 - Apollos Butler Cooper Aug 16, 1816 - Jacob Reed Cooper, Jr. Oct 18, 1818 - James Reed Jacob Reed died at Filmore, Putnam County Indiana Dec. 2, 1863.
