<p>U. S. Census for 1910 (performed 17 Apr 1910) lists Edward as 53 and Caroline as 50 as of their last birthdays. Also indicates they have been married 31 years.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>1880 US Census</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Edward, 24, and Louisa, 21, live at 263 Poplar St., Cinty, in a multifamily dwelling (apartment) with their son, Cornelius, just a year old. Edward is a marble cutter, Lousa keeps house.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>1900 US Census</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>On 1900 Census Edwards family lives at 624 McMicken Avenue. It is a multifamily dwelling,probably an apartment, that they share with Ignatz (a brewer) and Katie Ziegler and their 9 children.it appears as though the Koetters had a boarder living with them by the name of Dan Fuhrmann, a 22year old "Ornamentor".</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>1) Edward, born May 1856, is 44 years old. He is a grocer and his parents were born in Germany. They rent their dwelling and have a boarder.</p><p><p>2) Louisa, born November 1858, is 41 years old. She and Edward have been married 22 years. She has borne six children, three still living. Both she and Edward's parents were born in Germany. Louisa and Edward appear to have been born in US as they are listed as being in the US for 41 and 44 years respectively. Everyone in the home speaks English and can read and write.</p><p><p>3) Emma, daughter, born May 1882 is 18 years old. No occupation, not at school.</p><p><p>4) Louisa, daughter, born January 1888 is 12 years old. At school.</p><p><p>5) Edna, daughter, born March 1891 is 9 years old. At school.</p><p><p>6) Dan Fuhrman, born July 1877, is 22 years old and is listed as a boarder. He works as an ornamentor.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>1900 Census shows that neighbor families had many children. Also had nephews living there. On one side were listed as "brewer"s. Large family on the other side had a driver, a shoemaker, a tanner and a servant. Cabinetmaker, House carpenter, tailoresses and seamstresses were also on the same street. Most individuals were born either in Germany or Ohio. One family born in Holland.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>1900 Cincinnati Directory showsEdward Koetter, grocer, at 624 W. McMicken. This suggests the store was in the same building in which they lived. Check out on Google Earth - large, white building that now appears to be a church.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Williams' Cincinnati City Directory, 1902</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Between 1901 and 1902 the grocery store moved from 624 McMickon Ave. to 4180 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati. This was a pretty long move, about 3 miles. Clk (presumably Clerk) at the same address and his home at 2234 Wheeler St., Cincinnati. This is not the same as my GGfather.I looked up the 1910 census and Edward W. is the son of William Koetter, cigar maker. Is William the brother of Edward, my GGF? Is Edward W. then a nephew?</p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>1910US Census</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Edward, 53, and Louise, 50, are living at 1632 Chase Ave. in an apartment building. Their daughter, Emma, and her husband, Theodore Bauer, are in the same building with their two children, Cornelius, 6, and Edward, 4. Edward and Louise Koetter's other daughters, Louise (Matilda Louise, Aunt Dude), 22, and Edna, 19, live with their parents. Edward owns a grocery store and employs both Louise and Edna. Edna is listed as not attending school in the past year, but no notation exists for Louise. The third family in this apartment building is Elizabeth Woods, 48, a widow, and her two children, Eugene, 18, who works as a stenographer for a car company, and Amanda, 17, not employed. Elizabeth owns a dry goods store. It is possible that both Edward's grocery and Elizabeth's dry goods store are in this building. Edward and Louise have been married 31 years. She has borne six children, three of whom are still living. Theodore Bauer is employed as aclerk at the post office. Neither his wife, Emma, nor his mother, Louise, are employed.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>It is worth noting that their home is a very short distance, less than a mile I believe,from 4209 Kirby Ave. I found the latter building on Google Earth. In my mother's photo album, presumably handed down from her mother, are photos of the family with a label, "4209 Kirby." My best estimate is that the photo was made about 1904. In the photo Cornelius is sitting on his grandfather's lap (Edward Koetter), and appears to be about a year old. Edward is not present and so I think not yet born. Louise Knabe Koetter is present along with Theodore, Emma, Theodore's brothers, Henry and Fred, and their mother, Margaret Fuchs (Gramma Bauer). Others in the photo are not identified with certainty. I don't know who lived at this location.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Williams' City Directory, 1915</p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Now the 1632 Chase Avenue address is listed as a home. I presume that Edward closed the store.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Address in 1880 was 263 Poplar Street. Neighbors were of Prussian origin and consistedmostly of laborers. One listed as "scholar". Women were "housekeepers." U.S. Census 1880.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Address in 1930 is Flatt 1 #1630 Chase and South Park Flatts according to U.S. Census. Wife, Louise and daughter, Louise M. live with Edward.</p><p><p>Media entitled "Orange Blossums" indicates that Edward and Louisa obtained a marriage license on July 17, 1878. This was a Wednesday.
