Fred John Fink lebte die meiste Zeit seines Lebens in Yandina, wo er als Rohrschneider arbeitete. Nachdem er im 2. Weltkrieg im Bataillon 2/15 gedient hatte, kehrte er zum Zuckerrohranbau zurück und nahm auch den Bananenanbau auf. Er baute weiter Bananen an, bis seine Ernte an den Südhängen des Mount Ninderry 1974 während eines Zyklons vernichtet wurde. Fred war ein begeisterter Unterstützer von Organisationen in der Yandina-Gemeinde, darunter die Yandina School of Arts, die Historical Society und die Returned Liga der Dienstleistungen.
