Lewis Christian Lansche BIRTH 6 Feb 1849 Hawk Point, Lincoln County, Missouri, USA DEATH 12 Nov 1926 (aged 77) Hawk Point, Lincoln County, Missouri, USA BURIAL Troy City Cemetery Troy, Lincoln County, Missouri, USA MEMORIAL ID 117130888 Obituary: Louis Christian LANSCHE was born February 6, 1849, and died at his home southwest of Hawk Point, November 3, 1926, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 27 days. Louis C. LANCHE was a son of Michael and Katherine LANSCHE, whose old home place is now owned by Henry LANSCHE, Sr., west of Hawk Point. Here is where Louis grew to manhood and learned the blacksmith trade under his father. The writer well remembers a one-horse plow with low handles, painted red that his father had LANSCHE and son to make for us to use when we were but nine years of age, fifty-five years ago. LANSCHE and son were known for their honesty in business and this trait of character followed friend Louis all through his long life. On March 20, 1873, he was united in marriage to Catherine E. ECKSTEIN and they have spent nearly all their 53 years of married life on the farm where he died. To this union eight children were born: Casper, at home with father; Henry, of St. Louis; Annie, wife of Frank BORGELT, of Moscow; Louis P., of Hawk Point; Lena, wife of Wm. REYNOLDS of Hawk Point; William of Elkhart, Ind.; Katherine, wife of Joseph MYRICK of St. Louis, and Mamie LANSCHE at home. They with the aged wife, fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, Henry LANSCHE, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth HERBEL, of Overland, are left to mourn the death of this good man. Besides these, he has many relatives and friends who feel that they have lost a good and valued friend. Friend LANSCHE was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need or distress. A large gathering of his friends were at the home Friday, November 5, to pay the last tribute to this good man. Rev. Sam EAMES, a boyhood friend, conducted the funeral after which his remains were taken to Troy for interment. The pall bearers were of his associates in the Bank of Hawk Point; W. B. HOWELL, John BARBEE, Frank KNIZEL, Sr. Herman SANKER, H. H. EVERSMEYER and C. S. EAMES. Thus closed the life story of one of Hawk Point's best citizens but the influence of his life will live on forever. - C. A. HARPER
