Murphy (Hampden, Massachusetts), born in Springfield, Massachusetts, who passed away at the age of 90, on June 15, 2019. She was predeceased by : her parents, Frederick Berry and Madeline Berry (Ryan); her husband Edward Dion; her sister Janet Hatch. She is survived by : her children, Beverly Kirton (Alfred) of Franklin, MA, Rick Dion (Beth) of Hampden and Robert Dion (Pat) of Hampden; her brother Robert Berry of Illinois; her grandchildren, JoLynn Perry, Joseph Dion, KeriAnn LaSpina, Crystal Rame, Lindsay Dion and Nick Dion; her great grandchildren, Dominick Albano, Louisa Dion and Russell Dion.   Marjorie E. (Berry) Murphy, 90, a resident of East Village Place inEast Longmeadow, passed away on June 15, 2019. She was born on May 30, 1929 in Springfield a daughter of the late Frederick and Madeline (Ryan) Berry. Marjorie retired as a bank manager for Shawmut Bank after 20 years. She generously volunteered her time at Baystate Medical Center, for 25 years. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Edward Dion and Arthur Murphy. Family meant everything to Marjorie and she will be missed by those who loved her. Marjorie is survived by three children, Beverly Kirton and her husband Alfred , of Franklin, MA, Rick Dion and his wife Beth, Robert Dion and his wife Pat, all of Hampden; a brother, Robert Berry of Illinois; six grandchildren, JoLynn Perry, Joseph Dion, KeriAnn LaSpina, Crystal Rame, Lindsay Dion, Nick Dion; three great grandchildren, DominickAlbano, Louisa Dion, Russell Dion; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marjorie was predeceased by a sister, Janet Hatch.

This was accomplished gradually, state by state, as we covered more and more of the census.As required by the US Constitution, the census is a federal mandate to count every resident of the United States of America every 10 years. Census data is released to the public72 years after it was taken.Federal census takers were asked to record information about every person who was in each household on the census day. A census taker might have visited a house on a laterdate, but the information he collected was supposed to be about the people who were in the house on the census day. The basic census enumeration unit was the county. Each county was divided into enumeration districts, one for each enumerator. The completed forms were sent to the Commerce Department’s Census Office in Washington, D.C.Federal censuses are usually reliable, depending on the knowledge of the informant and the care of the census enumerator.
