She has had heart disease for many years. She was very much alarmed at the storm of Thursday night, but went to bed at midnight and it is thought she diedsoon after retiring. Her brother heard her little child, who slept with her, calling to her in the morning, but heard no response and on going to her room found her dead; her hands were clasped underher head as if her breath had stopped without a struggle. She came here with a family of seven children from Switzerland, five or six years ago, and her loss will be irreparable to the little flock now doubly orphaned." Preceded in death by her husband, Andrew, in 1888 in Switzerland. She was survived by her brother, Adolph Zimmerman, who took care of raising her seven children. In March 1895,her brother, Adolph Rudolf Zimmermann took the seven children (daughter Caroline, known as Lena; and sons Ernest, Otto, Robert, Hans, Fred, and Paul) to Kalispell where he settled upon an 80-acre timber tract. There Uncle, with the help of Lena, raised the boys to adulthood. ****** Although Elise Caroline had one daughter and six sons who grew to maturity, she had only three grandchildren and allthree were girls. There were no grandsons to carry on the family name. All three granddaughters married, but only one who had children.
