He was born June 26, 1922 inRidgewood Queens, NY. He served in the U.S. Navy, 1942 - 45, on a Destroyer in the Aleutian Islands off of Alaska. He was a residential builder/developer living in Palm Beach County, then Stuart and Sebastian, FL for over 40 years. He also had a summer residency in Waynesville, NC, the area he loved the most. He is survived by his five children, Tim Tschinkel of Holmedale, NJ, Cheryl HigginsBarrett, of Boynton Beach, FL, Donna Myers of Woodstock, GA, John Tschinkel, Jr. of Stuart, FL and Jim Tschinkel of Telluride, CO. His grandchildren are Bethany, Amanda, Sonja, Justin, Logan, Lynette, John,Jesse, Katie, Jennifer, Suzanne, Nick, Leslie and Matt and a greatgrandchild, Nicholas. He is predeceased by his wife of 13 years, Myrtle Tschinkel. </span></p>

From 1937 to 1940, payments were made in one-lump sums amounts with the first amount being seventeen cents. Following amendments in 1939, the payments turned into monthly benefits and increased. Following further amendments in 1950, cost-of-living increases were awarded to those who were receiving benefits. From 1950 to the present, benefits have increased yearly in response to inflation concerning the costs of living. |
