une Anne Chucta, age 78, beloved wife of John Chucta of Seymour, died February 27,2009 in her home surrounded by her family. Born in Derby on September 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Spiwak Worobel. Mrs. Chucta was a graduate of Ansonia High School andworked as a Secretary in the Amity Junior High School for 18 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the Shelton Russian Club, Shelton and Prospect Senior Centers, and a life long parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia. Mrs. Chucta was a wonderful cook, enjoyed skiing and traveling, but will be long remembered for her overwhelming generosity to others and her special loving relationship she shared with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Gary Chucta and his wife Nancy of Seymour, Thomas Chucta and his wife Janet of Prospect, and Lois Culmo and her husband, James of LI, NY; sisters, Mary Piorkowski of Derby, Esther Rozum of Seymour and Olga Kowalsky and her husband, Sergey of Seymour; 7

 Begun in 1935 by the Social Security Act signed into law by FDR, more than thirty million Americans were registered for the economic security sanctions by 1937. From 1937 to 1940, payments were made in one-lump sums amounts with the first amount being seventeen cents. Following amendments in 1939, the payments turned into monthly benefits and increased. Following further amendments in 1950, cost-of-living increases were awarded to those who were receiving benefits. From 1950 to the present, benefits have increased yearly in response to inflation concerning the costs of living.
