He was listed as the illegitimate son of Maria Fil. She was not married yet. Five days after giving</span><br /> <span class="fontstyle0">birth to Damian, she married her third cousinNicholas Smarsh on November 13, 1863 (marriage record attached). Damian Fil (named after his mother) married Sophia Smarsh on July 28, 1890 at #53 and #54 Wola Cieklinska. One of their children was my grandmother Maria Fil born in 1899 in Folusz making Damian and Sophia my great grandparents.</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span class="fontstyle0"><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Initially, I did not know who Damian's unknown father was until Karol McCloskey and I put our heads together and discovered our common ancestor. Karol and my mother are close DNAmatches on FTDNA and Gedmatch. Karol's great grandfather was Josaphat "Asafat" Szkurat (birth record attached). Asafat's father was Gabriel Szkurat (birth record, marriage record & death record attached).
