Mark ZipfelMark A. "Zip" Zipfel, 73, of Freeburg, Ill., born May 10, 1933, in Freeburg, Ill., died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.Mr. Zipfel worked 37 years as a salesman for Taystee Bread Company and Kas Snack Foods and later, 10 years at Tom's Supermarkets. He was a member of Teamsters Local 50 and United Food and Commercial Workers 655. Mark was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Freeburg, Ill., where he was a member of the church council, and the Freeburg Sportsmen's Club. Zip was an avid Freeburg Midget fan for many years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol, nee Gloeckler, Zipfel, whom he married May 26, 1959, and who died January 3, 1975; his parents, Alfred and Anna, nee Becker, Zipfel; a brother, Roger Zipfel; three sisters, Jeanette Zipfel, Dorothy Holst, and Esther Reuter; and four brothers-in-law, Robert Winterbauer, Lloyd Holst, Adolph "Pader" Koesterer, and John Reuter.Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Holly, nee Jetton, Zipfel, whom he married December 5, 1975; a son, Douglas (Christina) Zipfel of Pensacola, Fla.; four daughters, Cindy Salamie of Littleton, Colo., Cheri (Brian) Borsch of Belleville, Ill., Susan (Hal) Carpenter of Freeburg, Ill., and Sheila Zipfel of San Francisco, Calif.; "Papa's" nine grandchildren, Danielle and Jacob Borsch, Hans, Abigail, and Drummond Carpenter, Josephine and Joshua Zipfel, and April and Jimmy Salamie; two sisters, Barbara Winterbauer of Freeburg, Ill., and Angeline Koesterer of Belleville, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Jean Zipfel of Freeburg, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his "best buddy in the whole wide world," Larry Cook of Belleville, Ill.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Freeburg, Ill., or to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 612 North State St., Freeburg, Ill. Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Freeburg, Ill., with the Rev. Bruce Keseman officiating.
