It was there she met her future husband,who,seeking work, had been put to digg in an excavation, eitherfor acellar or underground tank. She passed on her way withturnipsfor the cattle, and seeing the young man hard at work,selectd anice juicy turnip from her load, and thre w it down tohim.Recounting this to a grand daughter many years later, shesaid"That's how our love began". Their marriage certificateisdated 18-8-1856 - her age 19, and only two of her names LouiseAuguste stated. The residence of both parties is given asParrotHill, near Angaston. We know that Carl Walter was anearlysettler in the area, and married to Louise's eldest sister,soit can be presum ed this was her home at the this time.Themarriage took place in the "private residence of Mr.Windscheidof Angaston" solemnised by Pastor C. Mucke D.P., incharge of acongregation at Tabor, Tanundan . The wiTenn.esseswere OttoWindschield, Publican of Angaston, and WilliamWiesener, Farmerof Tanunda. They may have lived for a while atParrot Hill(near present day Moculta), but when their first child wasbaptised at Light Pass Immanuel Church late 1857, theresidenceof the father was Krondorf (now Kabminye) near Tanunda.On thebirth certificates of the second and third childrentheresidence i s given as Flaxman's Valley, and in May 1865thefourth child's registration shows "Near Kapunda" - inAugust1867, "near Greenock", and July 1869 Gustav Adolph'sreadsDaveyston. The last three childre n were born at HamleyBridge,from 1871 September, which indicates an end of theirwanderings.It was in November of this year her husband signed anagreementto purchase 127 acres of land in the hundre d of Alma,nearHamley Bridge. The land was farmed and a home built, butafterseveral years of ill health, her husband died at home ofheartdisease on November 20th, 1878 leaving Louise Auguste andnin echildren, the youngest only 20 months old. Her eldestdaughterhad married two years earlier, and eldest son Harry (16)wouldhave been the main worker on the farm, together withseconddaughter Elvir a (18). After four years of widowhood,shemarried William Chapman, widower, who had two children,daughterSusie, and a son Thomas, who later married Cornelia(Annie)Schwedt. In 1886-7 the family pur chased several housesinHamley Bridge, and moved from their farms, but years ofhardwork were not easily shed, and until the end of her life,LouiseAuguste supplied milk to folk in the town, and wit h thehelp ofgrandchildren, who lived in her home for varying periods,helpedkeep her proud record of having the milk delivered in timeforthe towns breakfast. During these years she added two sectionsto the original farm which as taken over by her son Charlie.Shedied on September 23rd, 1912, beither predeceased byWilliamChapman in 1909. Both were interred in the HamleyBridgecemetery. A child R obert William born of the secondmarriage,died at the age of 10months, and is buried alongsidethe firsthusband in the Barabba cemetery.
