[Abraham.FTW] E.T. Beatty, 84, well known and honored citizend of Monett,Missouri for many years, died at the home of his son, John Alexander Beatty, 309 Euclid Avenue, At 2:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, August 3, 1938. His death was caused by complications from hernia. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Callaway's funeral home, Rev. W.F. Goodnight, officiating. Burial be in I.O.O.F. cemetery at Monett. Ephraim Turner Beattywas born in Maury county, Tennessee, February 18, 1854. He was married when a youn man to Carrie McCall, in Tennessee. Two children were born to them, a daughter who died and a son, John Beatty. Mrs. Beatty died in Tennessee in 1884 and he was married again to Mrs. Nannie Cooper who died at Monett in 1921. There were no children by the last marriage. Mr. Beatty and his second wife and son came to cassville from Lewisburg, Tennessee, in 1897. At that place he wrked at his trade of woodworker and blacksmith. He came to Monett in 1901 and went to work for the Frisco as a car carpenter. He served the Frisco until 1913. After his retirement form the Frisco he went into business for himself as blacksmith and woodworker, his shop being at Broadway and Central avenue, near the present Sizer building. He was an expert at his trade. After the death of his wife he made his home with hisson and wife at Sapulpa, OK., returningto Monett with thim in 1937. He was a member of tghe old M.E. Church, South, at Monett. He was a good Christian man and honorable citizen. He is survived by his son, John Beatty, tow grandchildren, Rolla Beaty and Mrs. Lester Parmalee and two great grandchildren.
