[Bill's Nutt.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #2669, Date of Import: Jul 3, 1999] Found in 1900 Webster County, Nebraska census. Some information is contained in a book entitled "The McBrides - Historical Documents, Notes & Miscellaneous Materials" published by Donald Keith McBride, Rockville, Maryland, 1995 (limited circulation). "Charles Spence traces his ancestry to ancestors who fought in General Green's army during the revolutionary war. His ancestry is Scotch and Irish.. "Charles was a brother to Ernest Spence, they were neighbors to the McBride's in Williamson County, IL, and instrumental in getting James Monroe to move to Nebraska where he met Lottie. I am not 100% clear on all of the Spence family, but you are correct in that they were Karl's parents, he married Sadie Doher and they were the parents of Loris, Polly, Morton and Thomas.. Jennie and Charles had 6 children, Charles, Paul, Karl, and the three daughters who died as children. I have all their names someplace, but of course can't find them now. I believe they were all listed in Webster Co. NE 1900 census." (Source: Brian J. McBride, email to Roberta McBride on 6-8-2003) Polly's book mentions the family's move from County Cork (Ireland), found on page 9.
