He was a graduate of Dover High School, class of 1967. David received his degree from the University of Cincinnati and later obtained his Master's at Wright State in English Literature. He loved learning and continued his education, studying everything from calculus to Russian. David worked at UD Research Institute. He attended Oakwood United Methodist Church where he played in the Praise Band. David was also a member of The Plymouth Owners Club. He was a quiet, intelligent man with a wonderful sense of humor. David battled health problems his entire life and is now at peace. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be truly missed. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Josephine Petricola. David is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Polly (née Leist); daughter, Ann Petricola and her husband Joel Baranick; granddaughters, Josephine and Madeline; father and mother in-law, Tom and Jeanne Leist; sisters in-law Julie (Steve) Harris, Jenny Kinsey; brothers in-law Tom (Julie) Leist, Tim Leist; cousin Gary Petricola; his nieces, nephews and other cousins. He is also survived by extended family members Rose Barnhart and Lt. Kristopher (Amy) Carter, USN. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering. Memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Oakwood United Methodist Church, 206 E. Hadley Ave, Dayton, OH 45419 with Rev. Brian Thie officiating.
