She married Isaiah Smith on 16 December 1800 and they resided in Orange County, New York. Abigail was the mother to 7 known children Hector C. Smith, Emily Smith, Franklin L. Smith, Mary Ann Smith, Aaron Burr Smith, Harriet Smith and Francis Elizabeth Smith and raised her grand daughter Abigail Ann Mead whose mother Mary Ann Smith died a couple months after the birth to "Aby". After the death of her husband Isaiah, Abigail moved west to the frontier land of Twin Mound, Douglas County, Kansas to live with her daughter Francis Elizabeth Smith Hiatt and there she died in 1864.
