Birth: Nov. 28, 1925 Minneapolis Hennepin County Minnesota, USA Death: May 16, 1942 Cook County Minnesota, USA Walter Monroe Kleinsteuber Jr. was known as Wally to his family and was born on 28 November 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Wally was known for his singing, dancing and athletics. He played Dick Deadeye in HMS Pinafore and was even scouted to be in movies but his mother wouldn't let him. Wally was the president of the church choir and of his church group. Wally was a born leader and well liked by his peers. He was President in the student coucil. Wally played football, was on the swim team and track team were he excelled. Wally was loved by all when he was taked at the young age of 16. While on a fishing trip to Fowl Lake on the U.S. and Canadian border with his father the boat they were in capsized when it hit a log. Wally got his father on top of the log and gave him his life jacket. Wally then proceeded to try and swim and push the log his father was on to the shore which was about 50 yards away but hypothermia set in and they both gave in to the cold waters. Wally was missed by all who knew him! Family links: Parents: Walter Monroe Kleinsteuber (1901 - 1942) Edna Lenore Challis Kleinsteuber (1905 - 1975) Burial: Cremated, Ashes scattered. Specifically: Wally's ashes were scattered at their family home in Minneapolis along with his father's. When his mother passed on in 1975 she had her ashes scattered there as well.
