Birth: unknown Death: unknown Abigail Ann Mead was the daughter of Alonso Mead and Mary Ann Smith. Aby was born 26 February 1836 in New York County, New York. Her mother Mary Ann Smith died a few months after her birth. As a result she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Abigail Jessop and Isaiah Smith in Goshen, Orange County, New York. After the death of her grandfather, sometime after 1850, Aby and her grandmother Abigail Smith went to live with Aby's aunt and Abigail's daughter Francis Elizabeth Smith. Francis "Fanny" Smith was married to Henry Hiatt, the founder of Twin Mound Kansas. Fanny died in 1859 and is also buried in the Twin Mound Cemetery as well as Abigail Jessop who died in 1864. Aby Mead married Henry Hiatt in 1862. Henry and Aby Hiatt had six children Fedore Pedro "Homer" Hiatt, Orel Onida Hiatt, Theron Genejah Hiatt, Effie Zirena Hiatt, Clyde Hiatt and Lena Leota Hiatt.
