Birth: Jun. 10, 1815 Death: Jun. 1, 1902 Cambria County Pennsylvania, USA On June 1st, 1902, Mrs Eliza Troxell died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Fry, near Glasgow, Reade township, Cambria county, Pa, aged 86 years,11 months and 22 days. Mrs Troxell's father, David Cree, was one of the pioneer settlers of Reade township, then called White township,and settled near Glasgow, Pa, where he raised a large family and lived to a ripe old age. Eliza married George Troxell, also a settler of the township. He bought a farm where the Bear Ridge coake ovens are located. There they lived and reared nine children. When the Civil war broke out, two of their sons responded to their county's call. One (David) never came back. He sleeps in southern soil. About 18 or 19 years ago, Mr Troxell died and since that time Mother Troxell has always lived in the vicinity of the old home. She was quite an invalid, not having walked for nine years or more, at time being sorely afflicted, but she went to her grave as a shock of corn fully ripe. She was largely connected in the country. She leaves 6 children, besides grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, an aged brother and sister. Rev Wagner, the Lutheran minister at Glasgow, conducted the funeral service, and C J Troxell was funeral director. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Family links: Spouse: George M.
