The son Yost (Jost Herbach) Harbaugh and Maria Margaretha Klein. The eldest son of Yost, removed to Hauvers District, Frederick County, Maryland, when only a path led to the southern end of what came to be known as Harbaugh Valley, near present day Sabillasville, and his personal property being moved had to be unloaded at the lower end of the valley and conveyed up the valley by such means as pack horses or sleds. "Rev Henry Harbaugh said of him---he was a man of remarkable large proportions. He was not only very corpulent, but of unusual height, amounting to almost a giant." "Big George" (as he was known) drowned in Falls Creek on February 19, 1787, shortly after his 61st birthday.
