Birth: Nov. 9, 1854 Death: May 11, 1940 Published in Belgreen's Franklin News 16 May 1940, reprinted June 1995 in Valley Leaves publication of the Tennessee Valley Genealogical Society: THORN FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY. Funeral services for R.E. Jeremiah Daily Thorne, 85, who died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sid Berry, Vina Route Two, were held Sunday afternoon at the Berry Cemetery with Rev. J.W. Hughes, of Red Bay, officiating and Spry's directing and Masons in charge. The deceased was one of Franklin County's oldest Missionary Baptist ministers, having served many churches for many years. He had been a Mason for 64 years and beloved by a great host of friends throughout the county and its environs. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Modena Thorne, Vina Route Two; five sons, William Hyte Thorne, Angus, Texas; Hosea B. Thorne, Nauvoo, Alabama, Charlie and Rube Thorne, Rock Island, Illinois, Joe Thorne, Belgreen, Alabama, and one daughter, Mrs. Sid Berry, Route Two. Active pallbearers were Henry Martin, Grady Pearce, Tom Weatherford, Vina; Chester Rea, Nauvoo; Alvin Barton and Charles Cashion of Red Bay.
