Anna Schmeckpeper Siebrandt

Mrs. Anna Siebrandt, nee Schmeckpeper, was born the 24th day of May 1856 in Hastedt, Germany. While yet in her teens she immigrated to Americawith her parents, who settled down in Cook Co, Ill. In the year 1875 on the 22nd day of October, the departed entered into the estate of holymatrimony with Herman Siebrandt. This union was blessed with 12 children, 5 sons and 7 daughters. Her husband and oldest daughter have preceded her into eternity. In the year 1885 the Siebrandt family came to Nebraska and since that time have lived in Cuming Co., the first year after arrival in Neligh Township, since then in Cleveland Township. Mrs. Siebrandt was in reality one of the earliest pioneers of this community and endured all the hardships, which are the lot of all true pioneers.
She was blessed with a strong constitution and mostly enjoyed excellenthealth. An ailing however, an open wound, caused her much trouble during the declining years of her life, and was finally to cause her death.Blood poisoning developed and permeated her body. This caused her great pain and suffering for the last months of her life. Two weeks beforeher death she began to lose consciousness and the last days of her lifewere spent in total oblivion. Quietly and peacefully she closed her eyes on the 21st day of May about 11 o'clock at night, having reached theage of 71 years, 11 months 27 days.
Mrs. Siebrandt was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in ClevelandTownship from the time of its organization. From this church, which shehad so long attended, occurred the funeral services last Friday afternoon, her pastor, the Rev. Robert E. Kuese, officiating. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Her 11 children, Fred, John and Herman, Beemer, Mrs. H. H. Beckman and Mrs. Frank Mehling, Bancroft, Mrs. E. F. Beckman, Henry and William, Pender, Mrs. Goehle, Steen, Minn., Mrs. John Breitbarth, Truman, Minn., and Mrs. Herman Helwinekle, Edington. Minn.,53.grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous other friends andneighbors mourn the departed.
Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. JohnSchmeckpeper and Theodore Schmeckpeper, Arlington, Nebr., Mrs. Guy Benedict, Henry, Andera and Mr. and Mrs. John Doess, Creighton, Nebr., Mr.and Mrs. Hellwinckle, Edgerton, Minn., Mrs. John Breitbarth, Truman, Minn., Reverend and Mrs. Goehle, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Groth and family, Magdaline and Herman Goehle, Steen, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. William Moeller, and Mr. and Mrs. John Beckman, Malcolm, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. William Cook,Plainview, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Burman, Bloomfield, Nebr., William Anders and John Fahrenholtz, Tinley Park, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Watts and Bill Anders, Norfolk, Nebr.
